I saw it has a "beta" client, and wanted to get some info from people who play it (on osx of course). How "beta" is it? Does it crash a lot/all the time/not so much? Is it ridden with bugs?

Looks like a really fun game and I wanna play it, but I don't want to get stuck with an underdone client that ruins the gaming experience.

I play on PC and MAC.
Great Game.... if you start playing select Black gate as your home server.

Runs fine for me and yes it will always be a Beta as it is a Cider wrapper. This is because as it is an online game it more than likely has to be tweaked on game patches to keep it working.

I have played nearly 100% of the map, I like the fact that if you get killed and are left laying on the floor, you wait other players to find your body, they can heal you and get you back on your feet. I enjoyed it very much when I played it, I would think other areas and quests have been added since I last played so maybe time to go back and play some more, no monthly fee either :)

Awesome! I know I'm a bit late, but only yesterday I've seen the game on YouTube and really wanted to play it since there's a Mac client but the whole beta thing is kinda discouraging.

As long as your machine is up to it, you will love it, it is very stable, I have one character that has done 95% of the game world, done that characters story line and is at level 80 I do not recall it crashing or anything.

The client works good for me on my imac. I played it for 4 months straight and it never crashed during that time. I think 1 time the camera wasnt working properly when i logged in but logging out then back in fixed it and it never happened again.

Yes the spinning camera thing, that is the only problem I recall also.

I did a trial period of a couple days with this and the game looks fun but I was not happy with the performance on my 27" mid-2011 iMac, i5 3.1, 12 gigs RAM, 6970m GPU. So I deleted the trial install and that was that. It's too bad they didn't do a proper port of that game.

Hmm. I might have to take a look at GW2. I was a day one GW person, but I sort of let it slide over time. My old clunker of a computer couldn't run GW2, so it was just another game I haven't checked out yet.

not much to check out regarding gw2 ... i'm not here to hate but in terms of mmo... the only thing to do at max level is world vs world... as in pvp. if you like that great, but if you don't then you're screwed... that company doesn't add new content

what i do like about gw2 is how you can sell anywhere anytime on a multiserver auction house... i wish wow had that

Yup, that is the only thing against it and why I stopped playing.

After playing GW1 since 2008, I was VERY excited for GW2 but what a massive disappointment it has been.

Try Guild Wars 1 - it is much, much better!

Is it worth buying a copy of Guild Wars seeing as it is old, what I mean is, it will not be taken down anytime soon ?

No. Guild Wars 2 is a newer game and it's better. Sure you might like Guild Wars 1 more, but you can't say it's a better game.

I maintain what I said in my original post: GW1 > GW2.

There is way more depth in GW1, better plot lines, armor customisation, quests, pvp, skills and skill setup, weapons and weapon system, elite areas/dungeons and much better Loot.

Everything in GW1 is better than GW2 except the graphics.

They add new storylines and stuff every month or so..

Bought this a few days ago when they had a half price offer. I like it and am getting into it after a few days however I've experienced some technical issues.

I'm playing as a Norn and in the starter area and up to the point I had to enter my main town it looked great and ran great. As soon as I was in the town I'm getting a crash after crash, which is disappointing. I downloaded it to bootcamp and can play on higher settings and its been 100% stable for me but I really don't want play in Windows if I don't have to. I've not played since the update yesterday, so I'm hoping it may bring some stability tweaks to OSX.

I chose to auto select the graphic settings in OSX right at the start and wonder if that has changed a setting that has created the instability. Any suggestions of recommended settings on my high end 2013 machine gratefully received :)
