I just received an anonymous text message saying that I can view the message online at viewmymessage.com and it provides a message id and password. Now, I'm pretty sure this is a phishing scam since no one else should be texting me so I haven't tried to view the message but I was wondering if anybody else has received similar text messages on their phones.

Um.. it's real. The iPhone can't display MMS so Apple or ATT force you to go to some website to look at the message... sad, huh?
Hmmm.. well who the hell is texting me? I go to viewmymessages.com and Firefox is blocking popups. Looks like a haven for spyware (I'm on a PC at work right now, sad huh?) I just don't feel comfortable with entering a password sent to my phone anonymously over an *unsecured* website. Smells like a phishing scam to me to register the phone number and IP address.
I see what you're saying, but as previously pointed out by another poster, this is what happens when an MMS (i.e. picture of video message) is sent to your iPhone's phone number. It's well-documented as a "feature". No kidding, it's not a scam! Call 611 and ask AT&T if you don't believe us.
Well since this is the first text message I have received and only a few people know my number and I know for a fact they are not texting me don't you think my suspicions are justified? This website is riddled with popups and has no secured portal and I can't even find where to enter the message ID and password, it just keeps sending me to another URL full of links. If AT&T cannot provide a secured online text service that's pretty messed up.
Wow.... wow. But, if you're uncomfortable with what was sent to you then, for about it. If the person that sent it truly cared, they'll ask you if you received it.
P.S I do think it's a piss-poor solution to the MMS problem.

, well at least that's the way I read it.You'll get popups if you go to viewmymessages.com. The site you're supposed to go to to retrieve an AT&T MMS is viewmymessage.com. No s at the end.
They give you a password to enter.
How can that be a scam? Check your spelling.

Because I think most of the kids up to maybe their mid or high 20's would kno what pic messaging is, how dangerous it is, and also text.
