I tried downgrading an iPhone 4, using Redsn0w, Sn0wbreeze, SHSH methods, stitching, tinyUmbrella.

Nothing worked. Redsn0w would get stuck on "Waiting for Device" and the iPhone just stayed in DFU with nothing happening.

Sn0wbreeze, using a stitch method and iTunes restore would start, the Sn0wbreeze loading logo and bar would show as if it's about start loading the OS, but then nothing would happened, did not even load a bit, the phone would restart into the "connect to iTunes mode" and that's it.

Tried 5.1.1 with Redsn0w and it worked from the very first try.

Is there something special about iOS 6 that needs to be done?

Did you use the latest version of iFaith (1.56) to check to see if your iOS6.x blobs were valid? Turns out most of the tools except for redsnow most likely saved incomplete iOS6.x blobs. Most likely that's why your downgrade isn't working. Did you use redsnow to save your blobs? Regardless, use the latest iFaith to check blobs. Sounds like they're incomplete.

WOW, you're right!

I just checked the blobs with iFaith and it said all the 6.x blobs are invalid. Even though Redsn0w said they were OK when I checked/validated them.

So, what do I do now?

I'm on 5.1.1.

Are those 6.x blobs saved on Cydia for my device invalid and useless? I can't see to be able to download those SHSH blogs using Redsn0w.

Unfortunately, there's nothing that can be done unless you manually saved them by directing to apple's server (TU, redsn0w, iFaith) since those shsh blobs are no longer signed. Just stay on 5.1.1, you aren't missing too much but not being on iOS 6 and I'm sure that an untethered 5.1.1 jailbreak beats a iOS 6 tethered jailbreak any day

Ah, that's unfortunate. Oh well, live and learn.

Thanks a lot for the help guys! At least now I know what cause the problem.

For the future reference, I will be saving blobs using iFaith, actually, I don't even know what tool submitted my blobs to Cydia, I think it did it automatically.

So when saving with iFaith, should, click and go though the "Dump SHSH blobs" or "Show available SHSH caches on server" and then make it fetch new SHSH files from Apple and submit it to Cydia?

I assume, dumping would require me to actually be on that certain version of firmware, which makes it not convenient having to constantly upgrade, dump and then downgrade.

I'm sure cydia auto saved them for you. It was just iOS 6 that cydia messed up in saving them. Click show availiable shsh blobs and it'll ask if you want iFaith to get the newest ones and submit them to cydia's server

If I were you I'd stay at 5.1.1 and jailbreak that. Or go to 6.1.3 and tether jailbreak. Up to you but I'd jailbreak 5.1.1 personally since its untethered and pretty much every major Cydia package works on it. Plus its really stable. Not sure how stable 6.1.3 is since not many people are on it.

Yea probably did, cause I didn't do anything. Just submitted 6.1.3 using iFaith.

Yea, I'm going to stay on 5.1.1, maybe I'll go up when the final version of iOS 6 comes out, much like I did with iOS 5. Plus iOS 6.1.2 disabled background audio(from video source) play.

Again, thanks a lot guys!
