I tried to search, but no go... It's supposed to turn off 3G when the screen is off, to save battery life. I just downloaded it now to try it out. I hope this thing works.

Wow that's so weird you just posted this the other day. I'm not sure how I missed this thread either. I just saw on my Twitter feed for CydiaUpdates that a tweak called akAuto3G was updated just now. I had never heard of this tweak before that Twitter notification. I am trying to find information on this package but I haven't had much luck. I was going to start a thread here but decided to first perform a search to see if this has been previously discussed. That's how I ended up finding your post.

Anyways, I was wondering if you could share your experience with this tweak. How is it? Does it work as advertised? Does it really extend your battery life or does it accelerate battery depletion since this is, and I'm assuming, constantly running in the background? Do you recommend I purchase it? I always disable my 3G/4G connection on my ATT 4S when I'm connected to wifi or when I don't need a fast data connection. I use NCSettings to quickly enable and disable 3G but sometimes I forget. For a couple bucks, if this tweak does in fact extend battery life I'd be more than willing to spend the money to try it out. I know ATT is phasing out their Edge network, but even if I got a year out of this tweak, in the end it'll be worth the couple bucks I spent on it! That is of course it actually saves battery life lol. Please let me know. Thanks!

id love an update on battery life increase. i dont see why i would need lte on on when im on wi-fi or the phone is just playing music.

Also, what happens when I'm at home connected to my wifi and the phone rings, I answer it and leave my home while I'm still on the call? As I leave my house, I will lose my connection to wifi. Will I be disconnected from the phone call because akAuto3G turns Edge off and turns 3G back on? Or does it wait until I end the phone call before changing the cellular radios? I'm not gonna deal with a tweak that is constantly ending my phone calls prematurely when a simple and free solution exists like NCSettings lol. But if I can automate this process then I'm all for that, especially for just a few bucks.

Tried it over the weekend. So far, so good. Data turns to edge as I turn off the screen, and back to 3g when I unlock my phone. I have gotten about 50% more battery life because of this tweak. But the downside is... If you constantly text, and turn your screen off and on, the phone will constantly turn from edge to 3g making the phone do that all the time... It does mess with the battery, but in a good way. I constantly use my phone during work (no wifi at my job so it switches off and on), and by the time I leave, I usually have about 20-25% battery life left... But with this tweak, I have 50% when I left. I would say it works. I have a 4s btw
