Only if that is my only option due to sell outs of the 8gb. But even then, I'll probably just wait until I could find an 8gb.

Yes

I'm buying the 4GB to save some $ and because my top rated smart playlist is only 400MB (yes I'm a flyweight) and my videos total 400MB too.. And only 200 pictures, 100 contacts, so I'll be fine.

I'm buying a 4 gig. I have an old 20gig iPod and if I really need to lug the entire music library that I don't listen to around with me, I can take it. But on a phone, I'll have it with me by my laptop more than once a day, meaning if I really need to swap some music I can just sync it. I can have a few hundred songs, a movie, maybe even a couple of episodes of a TV show on a 4gig and be fine and I really doubt I'll need more than that in the amount of time it will take me to get from one sync location to another.

Yes, its only a hundred bucks for twice as much space but why load it up with music I'm not listening to?

I plan 2 buy the 4 gig simply because that extra $100 plus tax doesn't fit into my budget. and i already have a perfectly fine ipod so i'm not really trying to carry around 20,000 songs on my phone :D

lol anyone else here too poor to buy one period? anyone? oh well. i'll just combust into a shiny ball of jealousy at 6 pm on friday.

you mean a 3GB? the OS takes 700MB remember, and the formatting plus apple genious conversion factor of 1000MB = 1GB. you are left with around 3020MB or 3.02GB

dont believe me? look at your ipod video 30GB notice its not 30GB total space? its like 27.3 or something, thats due to formatting and apple's way of "reducing costs" by stating 1000MB = 1GB. the ipod is a little worse than the ipod nano, its missing closer to 8% while the nano's are missing around 7%. diffrent manufactures for the storage (samsung and hitachi?)

I think anyone who is cool should buy a 4 gig model. :)

By the way I don't think that 700 megs for the OS is accurate. Someone pointed out when doing the math properly that it amounted to the OS only using like 180 megs.

My iTunes has something like 30 GB of which 10 GB is music, so I really have no choice. I'm already going to have to chop so much stuff off.

I will be. 4 gig (3 gig left after) is more then enough for the songs I WANT and my Boney M music video.

4gig for now, then when the hspda/gps rev 2 comes out i'll get the 16gb and give this one to my wife. plus i want one of those nifty jawbone bluetooth headsets, man those sound good.

Getting the 8gb will probably give you quite a bit better resale, if you want to sell and buy, when a new model comes out.
