Hello!

Has anyone been for a run with the AirPod pros yet? How did they perform? Any falling out?

I’m looking at replacing a pair of aging Powerbeats 3 and can’t decide if to get the AirPod pros or Powerbeats pros for running.

I prefer the portability and looks of the AirPods I must say!

Thanks in advance!

How do you all handle sound isolation affecting your ability to hear traffic (if you run near cars)? I’m not willing to compromise safety so I’ve been using the Powerbeats in 1 ear at a time on runs. I picked up the Airpods Pro today and feel even in transparency mode, I won’t be able to hear cars enough using both sides at moderate volume.

I ran in mine today with car traffic. I could hear plenty of cars in noise cancelling mode, but not necessarily locate direction. In transparency mode, I felt I could locate cars coming in my blind spot better than when in the both off mode. YMMV, but for me there was no issue running around with traffic.

Transparency Mode works really well if you don't have the volume super loud. I ran with them yesterday in Transparency Mode and didn't feel unsafe at all.

So guess I’m the only one that runs with one AirPod/Powerbeats Pro in at a time??

I had generation 1 AirPods, and eventually running in them frequently put them on the fritz. I purchased Powerbeats Pro on Oct. 7th of this year, a little before the markdown. I love the Powerbeats Pro, the only drawback is call quality is hit or miss. I’m itching to try the AirPods Pro to see if it’s better in that category.

Maybe Apple Store staff might let me exchange...

I got the Powerbeats Pro since day 1 and have been running with only 1 side in at a time due to too much isolation from traffic noise with both sides in.

With the Airpods Pro, with both sides in, I get too much microphonics (the “thumping” sound heard from physical movement) in all 3 sound modes when running. But with only 1 side in, I can‘t notice it.

Transparency mode is really nice and would allow me to use both sides and hear just enough traffic noise but not viable to me due to the microphonics. Also transparency mode isn’t really compatible with a beanie that covers the ears (it is cold season, after all) since the mics seem to introduce extra noise when rubbing against the fabric.

Personally, I feel runners should only be using 1 side at a time with either the APP or PBP, for the safety. The APP’s seem to be better all around earphone but PBP’s are better for those that prefer them geared towards the active side.

I've had a few runs in now...I always use just one (switch between L/R). MUCH better at staying put than AirPods were. Sound is great, and the transparency mode seems to keep the "wearing earplugs" feeling at a minimum.

Hi everyone. I’ve had first generation for about two years and now my Pro’s are being delivered on Monday. Quite excited to see how they perform. I know this is weird but I take extra care of my Apple things and at first when I originally got my first generation AirPods, I refused to exercise with them as I couldn’t take the fact that the earphones would get sweaty. I don’t know what to do with regards to new pair coming next week and exercising just yet as I’ve become an avid runner and they will get all sweaty when running and they’re brand new ? ? ?

Do the runners here all wear watches or do you carry iPhones around with you too? If the latter, is the arm strap the way to go? (I don’t have a watch, but plan to exercise more with my music once I get the Airpods Pro.

Apples been making their iPhones thicker and heavier every year. my 11 Pro Max is way too heavy to run with. Cellular watch is much easier for me.

Hi, I personally find it’s better to run with Apple Watch music and leave phone at home for multiple reasons.
1) Safer (I live in South Africa) and don’t want to be mugged G-D forbid of my brand new phone.
2) iPhone is heavy and bulky to carry.
3) Time away from messages and social media is a blessing.

On the odd occasion I take my phone, I wear this running band around my waste. Most of them stretch, like this one can fit my car keys, iPhone 11 Max, and AirPods case. They’re also inexpensive too.

Depending on how I position the Airpods Pro in my ear, I can sometimes hear a slight "click" (like a light smacking of the lips). But otherwise, I don't have any issues like them falling out of my ears. Obviously, your YMMV depending on how well suited your ears are for the Pros.

I've been on a few 5 mile runs the past week and the Pros have been wonderful. They stay in my ear much better than the 1/2nd gen AirPods, though they also fit me well.
