Try going to an off hand AT&T store. Not the store in malls. But the single stores. There is one if I remember my Jersey days near walmart on Rt1.

Stores typically have stocks that don't move as fast as the apple stores. A friend purchased a new one here in Simi Valley, CA / Apple with 3.1.2

That one got moved to a shopping center at the 130/1 intersection. They do a ton of business now.
