So I've noticed a problem in the past few days.

I have a setup on my desk where my MBP and my iPad share desk space. I find myself going back and forth between the two for various tasks, generally using the iPad as a desktop organizer while at my office, and doing technical designs and reviews on the MacBook.

Lately though I find myself trying to pinch or drag objects on the MBP by reaching for the screen. I try to move objects around in a design only to realize nothing happened and having a "DOH!" moment before reaching for the mouse or touchpad.

Now it doesn't happen all the time, most often after ding things on the iPad and immediately switching back to the MacBook. So - signs of early Alzheimer's? Or merely anticipating the future and ahead of my time?

Maybe I need a sticky note on the MBP screen with something like "Use the mouse, Idiot" on it.

My four year old is doing that with our family iMac. While I dream of being able to do it, I have not found myself actually trying to move or pinch items.

You must be living in the future like my four year old is. It is amazing how intuitive it becomes when it is a physical action of pointing rather than the mouse being an intermediary for pointing a cursor.

The more i use the iPad the more obvious it becomes to me that the touch interface is far more intuitive and sensible than is a mouse and keyboard.

Is it as polished yet? Course not, its a baby compared to a full grown adult. Mouse and keyboard has been around essentially for two decades. Touch for only 3ish years.

I have zero doubt that in a few years the paradigm will have shifted almost entirely. We'll be so productive with a touch interface that going back to a mouse and keyboard will feel all but un useable.

And yea i am including heavy lifting tasks like video editing, Photoshop, and perhaps even coding....
