Anyone else dislike the new placement of the fullscreen button?

With the old placement, I could quickly drag my cursor to the corner and tap the button as soon as the menubar appeared. Now I have bring the menu-bar down and THEN reposition on the button. Also it seems rather clunky for the entire window bar to appear under the menu bar in full screen mode.

I get that they were trying to simplify the controls a bit, but personally I don't think they put enough thought into how they did it.

I actually think opposite of that. That green button in Mavericks was useless to me and I had to click arrows that is placed on opposite side of window. Now dat green button makes sense, it's a lot simpler and it's a lot better in my opinion.

I quickly got used to the green button activating full screen and actually like it now, but I agree with you here. It was much easier to exit full screen by clicking the top right corner.

Also if you hold the option key its old behavior returns. I rarely used it though... its nice occasionally to make safari fit the monitor height without fullscreen.

The old green zoom button was almost worthless. However, the new full screen button is not exactly what my clients were asking for. Most of my Mac clients come from Microsoft Windows and they have been asking for a full Window (Maximize) option now since 2007.

Clients would be thrilled if Apple would offer an option in System Preferences to set the behavior of the Green Zoom button.

I know there are some options with option click etc, however, clients every year ask if this is the year this problem will be fixed.


Another frequent request is an option to set how a window opens - Windowed, Maximized or Full Screen.

OS X is not windows exactly because it's NOT LIKE windows in this behavior, among many others. OS X windows management is different from Windows, it just is. You either like it or not, but it will never be the same, because it would be Windows.

I use an app called RightZoom. It maximises the windows, Microsoft style (I hate leaving unused space around the windows). With Yosemite, I do have to Option-click the green traffic light to make it a plus sign, and then the window gets maximised to the entire screen (without being full-screen).
Until RightZoom gets updated, I'm searching for a solution so I wouldn't have to use the Option key.

Apple Mac's and Microsoft Windows share many things in common. (Multiple Windows, Title Bars, Minimize, Dock, Task Bar etc)

Allowing users to customize the behavior of their Mac's is a positive.

Clients routinely tell me that they are wanting a computer that is familiar (like Windows but better).

I've read more than too many of your posts and concluded that I don't think there's any more of an Apple apologist in all the internet than you.
