It lags at the end of every line. This is an iPhone 8 Plus on iOS 11.2.1. There is zero reason why there should be lag. The lag was also bad when i used the Gboard, so much so that i stopped using it.

Is there any way to fix this? Sure it’s not the end of the world but it is extremely annoying and makes sending long iMessage messages difficult.

I had this problem for months until I tried this suggestion from Reddit user seimungbing, and my keyboard has worked smoothly with no issues for 2 months now:

"if you have icloud backup, go to "Apple ID" -> "iCloud" -> "Manage Storage" and delete "TextInput" (or similarly named backup). no amount of reinstall nor restore from backup will help you unless you delete that (the lag comes back after couple hours)... took me 7 restore and 1 phone replacement to figure that out... lag free for 7 days now"

It did reset the dictionary, but for me that was a small price to pay.

My 8+ on 11.2.1 isn't showing that lag at all. I know that doesn't help you solve the problem, but I guess it shows that it's not iOS itself that's messed up? It looks super frustrating... Hope you figure it out!

I had this problem after installing 11.2.6.

Restarting the iPhone 8+ solved the problem for me.

Yes it happens routinely on my 8 which shouldn’t be happening. I’m guessing it won’t be fixed anytime soon so I just reset the phone daily and it’s fine.

Yeah it seems to be happening to everyone. Such a shame because you can really tell the speed difference in other areas like double press for Apple Pay etc.

Probably not related but I run in to a general lag in iMessage (not just keyboard) from time to time, been this way since 10.0 but a reboot always fixes it
