I have an iPhone 3GS I got a month ago, and to be honest, I'm a bit disappoitned with the Maps App. I've been testing it out and I find that it doesn't always give the most direct route, and I don't see an option to ask it to find a new route. My past experience is Google Maps or similar from the web, and they seem to be much more accurate.

What I was wondering is does anyone else find the Maps App to be inaccurate? Are there any alternatives? I tried loading google maps in Safari and it didn't work out.

Thanks

Ha! Well, that's funny I didn't notice.

Anyway, it totally sucks (IMO) compared to the web version. Does it always give you the best route?

The Android Maps app is much better. Navigation and turn-by-turn directions with voice.

:D

No, it doesn't always give me the best route (but neither does the web version). But the route it gives me is usually close enough for me to figure out a better route.

Well, I'm not about to buy a phone because of one good app.

Ah, I see. Well, I hope they improve the app. I haven't had an issue with the web version, especially because it allows you to choose which route you want.

It may not give the best route, but I'm pretty sure that it gives the shortest route.

Obviously shortest is not always best, especially if there are traffic considerations.

I have GPS in my car, so I use that for routing anyway.

Yeah, its not the best. That said, the few times I've used it it has gotten me where I need to go.

Same here. It's never given me wrong directions, but they aren't always the most direct.

However, Google's online map HAS given me wrong directions before. And when I say wrong, I mean REALLY WRONG!

so, go to the app store and buy one of the nav. apps--tomtom, or magellan or whatever----one hand giveth and the other hand taketh away-------
