Downloaded Time Magazine's app...holy crap. I paused my iMac playing Sherlock Holmes in HD so I could read a magazine on my iPad. This thing is really getting to me. I think I might find myself actually READING for the first time in ages. And the ads...they're actually interesting! Anyone else having the same experience or am I still in fanboy mode?

I'm not reading an issue for $5 each time

Yes, I'm loving magazines again and plan to get some subscriptions through the Zinio app.

If the ads are interesting, I think I'd have to say you're still in fanboy mode.

However, the newer generation of devices makes reading fit our lives better - I had this experience with the Kindle (my reading skyrocketed) and I have little doubt the iPad will have some similar effects.

That's what I pay on the news stand. I don't buy each issue, only the ones I find interesting. To each their own.

There was a time I subscribed to Time... miss it in some some ways.

Would not mind getting an iPad to start reading some magazines and books again. Sort of ADD here at times with what I read.

I find it hard to pay the same news stand price and not have the same ability to share it. And I find it hard to reconcile that there is a cost savings and environmental savings in not going to a print version. For the cover cost, give me ad free content on the iPad.

I can get a subscription to Time for 70 cents an issue right now on their website!

Yes, it's the first time that I feel enjoyment again reading a magazine. I have downloaded two GQ issues (including the one with Rihanna on the cover :p ). The stellar integration of big, beautiful ads is what makes me very happy. Glad we finally got rid of those stupid banners. :D

But bottom line is: If they want more than the casual reader who gets one 'once in a while', they are really '******* insane' as one reviewer put it somewhere.

I subscribe to Newsweek, Car and Driver, and several others. I don't usually get time (no pun intended!) to read them. If I had them on my iPad at work or with me, I probably would read them more often and completely (and see the ads, which is the whole point).

They need a much better plan to get the subscribers onboard. Same for the WSJ. Website price now isn't *too* bad. iPad app price: same reaction as Time. :)

I downloaded the new Zinio iPad app and subscribed to a magazine. It doesn't have all of the super-cool interactivity of the Time app, but it's also only $8 for a 1-year subscription. I can live without the gee-whiz and the $5/issue.
