I just got a brochure in the mail thanking me for signing up for the AT&T Roadside Assistance Program...I never remember signing up for this when I activated my IPhone. (free for 30 days, then 2.99 a month) I called and they took it off my account.

The brochure kinda looks like junk mail, so be careful not to throw it away if you get one.

Just another attempt from a cell phone carrier to milk us for every nickle & dime.

I already did, but just imagine how many people won't and will not examine their bill too closely?

When I first switched to AT@T (then Cingular), they added Roadside to my bill without even asking me.
Then when I added my wife to my plan, they gave her Roadside after I told them she didn't want to add it.

Check your bill statements!

I have the roadside assistance, an have already used it, and it saved my ass. The price for this is cheap, and worth it, in my opinion.

If you're ever in a suit, going to a wedding, in the rain, and get a flat tire, you'll be happy to know for 3 bucks a month, some guy will come out and change your tire in the mud. :D

Let me shed some light on this.

During the activation process reps have the opportunity to add features such as data, sms, mms, or roadside. By default this page has nothing selected EXCEPT roadside, so unless I remembered to uncheck that box customers would get roadside. It was annoying to say the least.

If you bought your phone at the at&t store than they probably added it to increase their commission.

i remeber hearing about this when i worked at radioshack (worst job of all time) last summer

A few months back we added a line to our family plan. At no point in time did the CSR at Cingular offer this plan. Nor did he mention it was going to be included/added.

We get our bill and were charged a prorated portion + $2.99 for the current month. Obviously the CSR added it for extra commission, etc.

I called 611 and Cingular gladly removed it and credit my account the prorated charge and the $2.99

Kinda sneaky in a way if you ask me.
