I love the Silicone Straps, but the pin... Hate it.
When I wear it and type on my mac, aargh.
It doesn't necessary scratch it, but the sound is just ugly and it really annoys me.

Perhaps its the band you're wearing - you mentioned silicone, I have the apple sports band which is not silicone and perhaps its a bit different but I'm not having any issues with the pin, never have.

OP probably means the Sport band even though it's not silicone.

Whether you have the sport band or many other bands including 3rd parties you are going to have to just accept that there will be some metal portion/s to the vast majority of clasps or buckles.

Oh and I have the sport band. Maybe initially I was concerned about it hitting the area in front of my keyboard on my MBP but just got use to it. If I was properly using it at a table, my wrists should be held up from the keyboard area anyway (believe that is the ergonomic way to type) but I frequently use the MBP on my body while I am laying in bed at night and kind of unavoidable although I do find that I hold my hands more off to the sides of the keyboard because my elbows are out to the sides while reclined like that.

Not at all... but mine is also off to the side (third hole from the watch) so unless I had my arm in a really awkward position.. it never has the opportunity hit anything!
