I'm not having much luck with responses over in the Apple Support forum for Apple TV, so I'll ask here in the hopes more eyes will see it.

I have 4 movies that I've ripped with MTR and encoded with Handbrake. All 4 play great on my Apple TV (2.0), but one of them is listed 3 times in the My Movies list. Clicking on any of the duplicates plays the movie.

No duplicate listings appear in my iTunes (7.6.1) Movie folder.

My guess is it's some kind of syncing problem, however I do not sync anything to my Apple TV; everything is streamed.

Manually hitting the SYNC button in iTunes does not resolve the problem. Removing the movie from iTunes removes all 3 duplicate listings on Apple TV, but when I re-add the movie, the 3 duplicates appear again in the Apple TV My Movies list.

Two other people responded to my original post in the Apple discussion forum stating they are having similar problems (the number of dupes for 1 person was 8, the other only had the movie duplicated twice in his listing).

Anyone had a similar issue and a workaround?

Same problem with PHOTO seccion

i'm having the same problem...the only difference is that mine is on the photos folder and only when i sync the pics that i store on my iphoto. It doesn't hapend when i sync any other files from my pictures folder.
But i do have my files twice on my Apple tv under that category.

Both times I was in the process of syncing things. Can't say that's what the cause is though.

This has been my experience as well. If I do anything with the AppleTV while it is syncing (either the streamed database or synced material) it produces duplicates until the next time I load the iTunes library or sync.

This also happened to me last night when I purchased a music video it showed as 3 repeats until it was 100% downloaded.

Just wanted to post an update.

Last night I added a few more movies to my collection and re-synced (uploaded). The duplicate listings are now gone.

So, I have to conclude there is a software bug in the syncing code. I just don't know what caused it in the first place.

Ok, I've gotten this twice so far too... I sync'ed over a movie and it shows up 10 times in My Movies. It's not actually syncing over 10 seperate copies of the move file, just listing it 10 times.

What I did to fix was to re-sync and then reboot the AppleTV - the duplicate listings were then removed from My Movies.

Obviously just a software bug... hope they fix it.

I saw five copies of "Dark Crystal" until I powercycled the Apple TV. The problem appeared to go away after I plugged it back in and restarted.
