Anyone else got problems with Panasonic NV500 video camera

The camera works fine but when I try to upload the content for editing FCP/iMovie cant communicate with it. I sent it off to get repaired but they found no problems with it so they must be using a PC. My firewire port is fine I dont know what difference PC has over the mac here.

What is the EXACT camera model number? All I find online for "NV500" is that it's a Panasonic camcorder battery number.
