Just curious how many people have had a reaction similar to mine.

When it was unveiled, I thought the watch looked ridiculous and I couldn't believe the R&D that went into designing something so underwhelming and indistinguishable from competitors. I was completely let down and disappointed by Apple and had no intentions of buying one...

Now, the more I've looked at it, the more it's grown on me. I've come to appreciate it as another carefully designed Apple product and I'm now realizing the attention to subtle details that I've come to love in the things they create. If you go through the photo galleries enough, it really starts to wear on you. And after really delving into the software features, I have decided I MUST have one.

I already wear a watch and feel naked without it, so it seems like a natural progression to switch to an Apple Watch to get even more data at a glimpse. It can apparently be paired with bluetooth headphones and has internal storage for music, so you'll be able to go for a run and listen to music wirelessly. I'm sure someone will develop a watchband that has a GPS tracker in it for the watch, if there isn't some sort of small bluetooth GPS tracker already on the market that can be paired with the watch.

Apple Pay looks awesome too. You'll be able to use the watch to make the payments without removing your iPhone from your pocket to scan your finger. The watch will use a pin number to activate Apple Pay but as soon as you remove the watch from your wrist, the sensors on the back detect you are no longer making skin contact with the device and will require your pin to activate Apple Pay again. Clever.

Controlling appliances and appliance timers with "Glimpses" makes it unnecessary to wake up the watch and navigate to an app for controlling said appliances. Glimpses are quickly accessible by simply swiping at the home screen.

I can see this becoming a must have device. Now, I can't even wait for it to come out. I want one now!

Don't love, don't hate, don't want.

That's a common theme here though. Hate for the 4" iphone at first then falling all over it. Hate for the ipad mini at first then falling all over it. Hate for bigger iphone 6 then falling all over it. I don't know why the watch would be any different.

I'm not saying everyone hated these things, but there was a lot expressed until they actually released.

Before actually released some was basing it on what they thought apple should do. After apple released them they had to be the right thing.

Don't hate it, don't love it, but will probably buy it. I won't buy the gold one, but I'll try to get 1 of the 42mm faced ones, whatever it costs. It'll be more novelty than something I think I'll wear too often. I might wear it to work and stuff, but it's not something I'd wear out and about or to any formal event.

Enjoy your glorified notification display while endlessly trolling forums defending your watch with the hilariously wrong attempt to compare your notification device to the ipod/iphone/ipad.

I didn't like it all at first. Seemed a bit too geeky. But Apple Marketing (TM) got me, and it's growing on me... I like the dark brown venetian straps, but I don't love it just yet...

I might end up buying one, at some point. Depends on batter life and how the market views it as a whole. If it becomes a upmarket wristwatch for everyone. Or a geeky android like gadget.

With Jony Ive comparing it to Swiss watches, and saying look out. Clearly shows how Apple want the market to perceive the Apple Watch. And I'm confident they'll make it happen. But I won't be an early adopter on this.

I was really sold on it when they first revealed it but after more research and careful thinking I definitely feel like it would be wise to skip the first (and maybe even 2nd) generation.

No. From the beginning I thought it's very beautiful and the OS is stylish too. (miles better than iOS 7)

I am quasi-addicted to activity trackers and when I thought the sport version wasn't the base level, I dismissed it. I will still want to see the battery life and I have to figure out what I want. I imagine what I really want is apple watch 2 so I'll have to decide if I wait for apple watch 2 or not. And I still think it is ugly but have you seen sport watches? They generally are ugly so I don't really mind.

The more I look at it, the more interested I have become in it. I think at the moment, I like the polished case with a sports strap combination.

I not sure I would be in a position to have it as a daily wearer though. I'd be too scared in my line of work for it to be damaged.

Love at first sight.

Stop wearing traditional watches since?

I'll admit it. I experienced hate at first sight. I still hate it. It think it's ugly and I'm really disappointed over the price point. Unfortunately, I am a tech geek. As much as I've tried to resist it, I am certain I will buy one, and the thought of it doesn't make me happy. I am sure I will be sorry that I bought it, and/or wished I would have waited for the 2nd edition. It doesn't matter. Knowing all that, I'll still buy it.
