My iPhone 12 Pro won't turn on at all. No physical damage. Hard reset does not work. Neither lighting cable or wireless charging works. Genius Bar can't even diagnose problem, they get error message that "Phone won't turn on." The tech there told me "this happens all the time". Phone is a little over 1 1/2 years old, several months past warranty, and Apple is telling me they won't help out in any way. They recommended a repair that is about $500, with no guarantee that it will actually fix it.

Anybody else have this happen to them?

Most likely a hardware issue. Looks like Apple will give you a refurbished replacement for $550+tax or you can sell it for parts and put the money towards a newer/different device.. Definitely not an ideal situation. I've always avoided getting AppleCare+ in the past and have been very lucky to not have any issues. With the cost of these new devices and the repair cost when out of warranty, my next phone will definitely have AppleCare+ added when purchased..

This happens to my iPhone 13 pro max today. I need to get all of my data out. Is there anyway to do it? My phone won’t turn on and no response when plugging into a computer.

Yesterday I thought my iPhone 14 pro was bricked - totally black screen and no response to any of the usual button pushes. After trying everything I could think of, I removed it from the Apple Silicon case, and tried the Vol-UP, Vol-Down, Hold power button trick again. This time it magically came to life! I'm not really sure if taking it out of the case helped or not, but it certainly wasn't the first time I had tried this fix.
