Anyone else have this weird issue with iMovie HD...?

I have this problem using iMovie HD on my MacBook. Most of the time when I apply Video FX to my images it turns them 90% white... It doesn't matter what type of effect I apply or what type of image I drag in, it happens most of the time.

Anyone know why this is happening or more importantly, what I could do about it?
