These never used to be issues and I don't know if its the recent AirPods Pro firmware update or the new versions of iOS and macOS or what, but I've had the following issues:

  • Music getting cut off while playing based off of certain ways I turn my body/my body blocking my phone (usually during working out)
  • Sound in one AirPod going out randomly while listening. I can click that same AirPod to make the music pause in both ears, and then click it again to play, and sound works in both ears again.
  • AirPods staying connected to my MacBook Pro while they've been in their case for hours. Even if I turn bluetooth off on my MBP, it still says they're connected. Any audio that I try to play just freezes the web browser, even if I try to change audio output to my MBP speakers. Only fix is to restart my MBP.
  • AirPods refusing to connect to my MacBook Pro, even though my MacBook Pro lists them on the audio interface list and shows their battery percentage
  • I changed the settings yesterday on my iPhone for the AirPods based off what settings it switches between (Noice Cancellation, Transparency Mode, and Normal) when I long press on the AirPods. It worked until the next time I used my AirPods again, and it reset back to the setting before I changed it.
This is all becoming very frustrating. The AirPods are so great when they work properly, but they're the most buggy Apple product I've ever used besides a lemon iPod Classic I got in 2007.

Has anyone else had an uptick in bugs with their AirPods lately?

Mine stopped working together last month. I figured I’d wait if a new pair were on the way, but doesn’t appear to be the case anytime soon.

I've had a few of those things happening to me recently. I'm not sure about the cause but they're definitely more buggy recently, so firmware would be a good bet?

Ive had more than a few bugs since i bought mine, I've had the left one replaced 5 times and the right one 3 times; the last time I finally got them both replaced after they finally admitted the rattllegate issue.
They don't rattle anymore but I do keep getting those bugs you mention, especially the staying connected to a device; in fact it happens a lot to the left AirPod in particular and it event wont charge sometimes; im guessing the case has issues too but they are too embarrassed to admit to both parts of the product having such poor materials.

I’m having these exact same problems. Probably for about 2-3 months now. Infuriating.
