Anyone else having problems with 10.8.1?

10.8 was 100% stable for me. There was one oddity with text input boxes in Safari, where sometimes the text wasn't fully visible (highlighting it solved that), but everything else was great.

Since upgrading to 10.8.1 a couple of days ago, Safari crashes all the time (had to stop using it now), Lightroom 3 crashes a lot, Activity Monitor crashes on opening most of the time, and I just had a kernal panic.

nope. everything is fine here apart from battery life issue. i had a dual monitor issue with 10.8 which is stil there in 10.8.1. havent noticed any change in overall speed.

I had similar issues with 10.8.1. I went directly from 10.6.8 on a MP 4,1. Initially everything worked fine but later on the same day applications started to hang, usually for 30-60sec after starting them (shown as not responding in the activity monitor) and then back to normal. This was reproducible for several programs including from Apple. Itunes wouldn't respond at all. I had to restore to 10.6.8 and after a reinstall of 10.8.1 everything seems fine now, for the time being...May have been an incompatibility with Sophos Antivirus which behaved somewhat oddly under 10.8.1 (double icon in the top bar). I have not re-installed it so cannot confirm, though.

Did you repair permissions in Disk Utility? This resolves a lot of these issues. Hopefully it will resolve yours.

Update: repairing permissions has vastly improved things. Safari is still crashing occasionally, but no longer all the time.

More than likely it's crashing because of Flash.

Also try these:

Go into terminal and type the following commands (without quotations):

"sudo periodic daily"
"sudo periodic weekly"
"sudo periodic monthly"

Repair disk permissions again and then reboot. Empty out the recovered files from the trash.

See if that helps with Safari.

I noticed ever since I started using Mountain Lion, my Apple Bluetooth Keyboard batteries don't last nearly as long as they used to when I was using Snow Leopard. I only get 4 or 5 days now vs at least a month with Snow Leopard. Anyone else experience this?

I thought it was odd that I had to replace my trackpad batteries today after only replacing them 3 weeks ago. Luckily they were the Apple rechargeable batteries.

When I plugged them in to recharge them, the light turned green within an hour. I wonder if they were truly dead or if Mountain Lion is erroneously reporting the batteries as low. I don't recall how long it normally takes to recharge them (never paid attention to it).

Next time I get the low battery level message, I'll measure the voltage of my Eneloops. Mountain Lion might be falsely reporting low voltage.
