Anyone else having trouble with GarageBand 3 (iLife '06)?

Sorry if there is a thread about this somewhere (I couldn't find anything) but since I've upgraded to iLife '06 I've been having nothing but problems with GarageBand. Every time I launch it, I get about 30 seconds of use before the beachball appears and then it "unexpectedly quits". No matter what option I choose from that dialogue box, it still hangs and I have to force quit. Starting again, the same thing happens.

At first I thought it was something to do with the new podcast mode and the iLife media browser (as the photo pane seems to cause iWeb to crash a lot). However, GarageBand quits whether I'm opening an existing song or whatever. I've tried rebooting and trashing the pref plist to no avail. I'm running all the latest stuff - 10.4.4, QT 7.0.4 and iTunes 6.0.2 - on a 12" PB (1GHz).

Not quite sure what to do now to get it working again. Anyone else having any similar problems?

Have you checked your logs? They'll often give you a clue as to what's wrong. Launch the Console app and click Logs.

Also, how much memory do you have? GarageBand needs a lot.

Thanks for your reply. I've got 768MB of RAM - shouldn't be a problem. GarageBand 2 has always worked fine.

I seem to have narrowed down the problem to the iLife media pane. It seems that whenever that pane is opened, GarageBand crashes within 30 seconds. This explains why it is always crashing in the podcasting and movie modes because the pane is open by default in these modes.

I've had a look at the crash logs - that's something I'd forgotten to think about - thanks. However, the crash prints out a lot - I don't really understand it and I can't see anything obvious, but I've attached a text file of it just in case anyone can shed any light

I forgot to mention that I've repaired permissions but that hasn't done anything either. This is really annoying!
