I would have been impressed if it was a tower model like the 5.1. But it was a non upgradeable trash-can, so I'm depressed.![]()
Non-upgradeable, except for the memory, storage, CPU, and graphics cards.

Besides, no sane person would buy a workstation-class computer in order to upgrade it only a few days later.
The nMP has a new form factor for GPUs and SSD. It is logical that new parts will not be available by launch. Besides, no sane person would buy a workstation-class computer in order to upgrade it only a few days later.
If after a year or two, there are still no upgrades available, then it is another story.
Replace "sane" with "rich"?
A lot of folks on a budget are going to buy the cheapest model and upgrade "a few days later" to get around the premium prices Apple charges for each incremental upgrade (at least for memory).
Let's not call those pieces upgradeable, then, until upgrades can be purchased.![]()
That's fair. I won't call it upgradeable, but I won't call it the opposite, also. Not just yet.
I called it "replaceable" - not "irreplaceable".![]()
There are Mac parts sites. Sometimes these sites charge a premium for replacement parts, but sometimes the prices are reasonable. I would guess that they will eventually have replacement parts for the 6,1 models as well.
I am not sure if they only sell to certified techs or not, but it is in my near-term professional plans.

Besides having great hardware and a simple design , I'm glad that some parts can actually be changed by the end user.
Like what ? The power cord ?![]()
Hmmm does that mean an upgraded power cable to supply high powered 60 hz out of the wall into the tube is how you get to a 60 Hz refresh rate on a 4K monitor?Yes! That's the very first thing I always upgrade. Imagine how much more powerful it is with a 10 Ga. Wire![]()
