I updated OSX (security update and Java) yesterday evening and my MBA takes about twice as long to boot and the same with shutting down.
Anyone else noticed this?

Have you tried to repair permissions and such? There were a lot of threads about problems with the update.

I've got a new Rev.B HDD which I installed the updates on last night before doing anything else, it takes about a minute to boot.

The only issue I have had is that Mail.app is extremely slow and hangs on the first email I try to write or read after opening.

Thanks, but I'm not referring to the 10.5.6 update of a couple of months ago. I'm referring to the security update of this past week.

I did a permissions repair and that seems to have helped.
