I have received this in 2 conversations today. It goes like this:

omg, is that you? :S

I blocked out the domain so people don't try it........I have not found anything about it on the internet yet. But I also talked to one other person who was hit by it. From what I can tell it infects the machine using a .pif file. I am glad I can't get infected by it.

I am glad I can get infected by it. What??????????? Sorry, but you must be crazy. I made the mistake of posting VIRUS VIRUS!!!!! on w=one of my posts even though there was none. Are you sure this is a virus?
My bad it was supposed to be can't. But I am sure its a windows virus yes. I am wondering how fast its spreading since i was hit by it twice(the link) and a friends of mine also got hit.

has anyone heard anything else about this? I know a few people passing it around, but I can't seem to find much about it.

These viruses aren't new, .pif and .com viruses have been around for a while. Most AV's will catch/delete them, and they're not usually super serious, they just spread through IM clients.

I had a friend who was infected by it... it was mostly funny to me, because I was immune, but then she in turn infected a mutual friend who supposedly lost a lot of stuff on her computer trying to unvirus it.... :(

A friend in Malaysia who isn't available for chat very often was sending one of those to me the other night. I thought it odd that he was available and then, it was showing up more frequently. I had to help him find anti-virus software because he didn't know anything about it.

Usually, I see these things on AIM/iChat.

Thank goodness I got my friend to switch to using a Mac. She had a Windows laptop for a few years that she let get infected with spyware and viruses and we couldn't even save any files from the damn thing. She borrowed my Powerbook for a good year before I had her buy an iMac G5 and make that her main computer. She doesn't regret a thing after a year of using it. She loves it. At least now I don't need to worry about her getting a virus or any other crap like before.
