I was just cleaning my screen for the first time and as I was wiping it off, noticed there's a little dot in the center of the top bezel (directly opposite the home button) that looks like a watermark - similar to the iSight camera on my MBP. I tried to take a picture to post but it's impossible to get it to show up in a photo.

I know tear downs have shown a place for a camera inside the iPad but does everyone else see this on the outside? Want to make sure I don't actually have a blemish on my bezel.

I don't have the iPad yet, but are you sure it isn't the same as the little dots on the iPhone? (proximity sensor, light sensor etc)

Yes!

You're right - I did a "cover it up and see if the screen changes" test and you're right....light sensor. Thanks for the quick responses!

It's the Doesn't-Actually-Do-Anything-At-All Sensor.

I think you may be a bit confused about how it works maybe? I don't think it works as the ambient light sensor on the notebooks because it doesn't seem to auto-adjust all the time, just when the device (iPhone/iPad) returns from sleep.

I didn't realize that. I'm use to my MBP which changes quite drastically as I use it.
