Anyone else switching carriers for their next phone?

I'm grandfathered on the AT&T unlimited plan. My monthly bill is $65. After 5gb usage, AT&T throttles my data. For the longest, I had no problem at all with that. Reason being is I would usually get close to or above 5gb just around days before the new cycle. Streaming music, e-mail, browsing, and etc works fine when throttled.

My issue is I've started to consume a lot more data recently mostly from streaming video. I can't even use the Youtube app like I want anymore, I'm forced to use the Viral lite and set it on a lower resolution. Also been watching plenty of Netflix and plan on using my Slingbox again. So when I get the Note 4, I know my data usage will probably be 10x what I currently use.

Being that said ......... T-mobile's Unlimited 4G LTE plan with included 5 GB tethering for $80 is very enticing and I'm going for it. I don't mind paying extra than what I'm paying now cause AT&Ts individual plans are freaking ridiculous, and they don't offer unlimited.

From speaking with my friends in NYC and tri state area, they have nothing but praise for T-mobile's service. Same with So Cal area which I travel to often.

AT&T's service has been more than good to me, even their customer service. But the throttling is no longer doable for me. Hate to leave them but their plans suck, plus T-mobile's Jump seems better than AT&T's NEXT but I still have to research that more.

I switched from Verizon to at&t. Service was fine with Verizon, but I decided that I'd like the ability to easily switch between phones - something easier to do with a GSM phone compared to a CDMA phone. And the simultaneous voice and data doesn't hurt either.

I'm in the exact same situation. On the unlimited data plan but find the 5GB limit before getting throttled annoying. (Been getting throttled every month exactly after 5GB). As much as I love AT&T, I've been considering switching to T-Mobile.

I just finished their 7 day test drive and service is just as good. (Southern California). I have the option to join a family plan and pay $40 for unlimited minutes, unlimited text, and truly unlimited data and plan on switching this month.

AT&T's grandfathered unlimited data plan and FAN discount kept me from switching but truly unlimited data and an even larger discount from a family plan are just to hard to pass up. I also no longer want to deal with 2 year contracts and have no interest in the Next program.

T-Mobile also includes additional perks like free international text and data. Free hotspot tethering. Free music streaming/Rhapsody unRadio (depending on data plan), etc..

Looking at the latest root metrics in my area (and the previous one before it). T-Mobile is just as good as the top two carriers. I rarely travel so no reason not to pay almost 50% less while getting a whole lot more.

I'd consider Verizon but I just can't get past having a freaking beep when someone calls me alerting them that I'm on the phone and just ignored their call. Tmobile's reception is terrible where I am so that won't work. Sprint, well I don't need to say anything.

Been on AT&T for about 8 years now and no plans in switching. I also has an unlimited data plan but throttling at 5 GB and much better family sharing plans led me to dump it a while back. There service has been just fine and coverage here is great. Our family plan has 10GB of data, of which I get use about 8-9.

If I would ever switch, it would likely be to T-Mobile, assuming their coverage around here was adequate.

I just switched carriers. T-mobile charges me $1200 even though they told me it was 'capped' but they're going to take it off. Still, I'm changing carriers. I've got unlimited data for just $6 more. That's okay, seeing as my new carrier, which I used before T-Mobile has unlimited data.

I was on unlimited att, dumped it for straight talk for a while after my iPhone 4 contract ended, switched to att go phone for higher level of service, then moved my wife off Verizon and we are on the 10 gig att family share plan with her 17% fan discount.

Got a cellular iPad Air that I've been using one of those free 200mb sims from tmobile to try out their service. It's been pretty good in my area of fl. Att seems better in buildings, it's been solid and I can't bring myself to leave.

2 lines for $130 / month = Unlimited minutes + unlimited texts + 10GB shared Data on 4G LTE.

A few years ago that was unheard of, to have 2 phone lines with all of that for just $130.

My Wife will use the 2 year upgrade for new phones, and I buy phones outright myself, like a Nexus phone or OnePlus One to use on ATT. Currently though I have an HTC One M8 converted to GPE, my favorite phone of all time. I like the GSM network, allows me to use International phones or unlocked GSM models on ATT. Plus next Fall I have upgrades up again, might use on the iPhone 6S and sell them

That's my plan also, I think it's a pretty awesome value. My wife's corporate discount brings it down even more. Between the discount and the amount of GB even the prepaid plans are only marginally better.

Forgot to mention T-Mobiles running a referral promotion. If you have a friend thats already using T-Mobile and they refer you over, the both of you get free unlimited data for a year. You end up paying $50 per month for unlimited data for 12 months.

Just ordered the 7 day test drive today. They are sending me a iPhone 5S. Should get to me on the 17th or 18th. Just in time to test out iOS 8 on a more recent device.

I switched from Verizon to AT&T this month. With BYOD and company discount my bill for a smartphone and tablet 10gb plan is $105/month before taxes. This wouldn't be enough but AT&T was really upped their coverage locally, 3G is as fast as Verizon LTE.

Been with VZW for years, before and since getting my first iphone. But I'm paying contract prices for a paid off phone and were already on the cheapest tier.

Chose a TMO sim for the new iPhone and will be trying out their service and porting my number. My rMini does well with the free LTE service on TMO.

Hmm just for laughs I'm looking at Tmobiles prices. Is there any offset if you bring your own phone or pay full price for it? AT&T gives me a $25 credit every month and with that credit and allotting for their data package it's about the same as Tmobile's plans. It's $120 for 2 lines, 5gb each on Tmobile and it's also $130 for 2 lines with 10gb shared on AT&T after the $25 credit.

If someone calls your Verizon phone which is already in a call they get a beeping as a busy signal, so they know you are on the phone.

So I got the 5S T-mobile sent me, and been testing it all day. So far so good, no hiccups at all yet. I've already past 5gb in less than a day, streaming a ton of Netflix, Youtube and Slingbox. Even the personal Hotspot was open to use. Did my testing in Queens, Bklyn, and Manhattan which is where I'm usually at.

Using iOS8 on the 5S made me realize again how much I despise iOS on a phone. On the iPad I can deal with, but on the iPhone it's just too damn restrictive and automated.

My AT&T bill ends at the end of the month so I'll be switching to T-Mobile then. Samsung has an offer to trade in your old smartphone worth at least $10 to get $200 from Samsung when you preorder the Note 4. I have an old iPhone that T-Mobile would give me $13 for so it qualifies. AT&T offered me a big fat zero trade in value for it. lol.
