Do you have the 16”? I only compared the 14” so the 16” would be even faster?Hello,
Well I also have a 24" iMac (8/256) as well as the new MacBook Pro (16/512).
While I would not say that the iMac is "a slow old dog", it is clear that it looks slower once you've tried the new MacBook Pro. So much so that I prefer using the MacBook Pro rather than the iMac!

Did you keep your iMac too?Honestly, I did not try the 14-inch model so I could not tell you! I can only confirm that the 16-inch model is indeed much faster than the iMac 24".

Maybe not as slow as a old dog lol.
But v a 14“ Pro 16/1TB that I tried it was.
Am thinking of selling it off and getting a 16” 16/512 MacBook Pro. My iMac is the 8/512gb.
Anyone else done that?
I've posted this before and I'll repeat:
16gb of RAM is "the new 8".
Almost anyone who buys an m-series Mac with only 8gb is going to discover this, sooner or later...
All of that and pro motion makes it jarring going between the 2, I think as you are using a trackpad on the MacBook scrolling is so much better, when I had the M1 12.9 iPad I didn't notice it.im thinking of purchasing an iMac soon with these specs, also have a new MacBook Pro! Would be good to hear what you mean by “slow” so I can make the right purchase. I.e. is it slower opening apps, slower when in apps, if so which apps? Etc etc. Thanks in advance![]()
