I know this is partially ridiculous, the devices are almost identical. But things like the touch's aluminum border (vs the iphone's chrome) and the leopard-eque dock immediately make it look so much classer and nicer than the iPhone...

think these two items (at least the dock i hope... simple software update) will make it to the iphone?

I think so, in photos at least. Maybe the plastic won't look so good in person. The test is how they each look after a bit of wear and tear. Of course the iPod doesn't need a speaker, making for a cleaner look...

I agree. I think we'll see something similar in January for the iPhone v2.

The one thing i reallly like about the ipod touch is the thin(innity) of it :D Trully amazing, cant wait to see that one at the apple store.

i haven't seen either of them in the flesh but from the photographs i prefer the chrome on iphone. i hope that when iphone reaches these faraway shores it will look as it does now.

FunkyMonkey just thought I'd tell you that your iBook 14" 1.42 has a superdrive, not a combo drive in it ... unless you for some reason swapped it out.
I love that great, last of the PPCs, iBook. Very fast when maxed out.

And I like aluminum better than chrome, too, but haven't seen either iPod or iPhone in person yet to compare.

Yes, the iPods thinninity is incredible, and the only feature that outdoes it is its thinness :D

I'm probably in a very small crowd that actually doesn't like how it looks. The part that really only bothers me is the boarder, it's just very bland and you don't even get to choose white/black or silver/black.

Of course none of this is stopping me from getting a 16GB as soon as it comes out, and who knows maybe it will look great in person and I'll grow to love it. If not there are always those skin stickers which should be around soon enough.

two things i don't like about the ipod touch: the all-chrome back and the goofy wifi antenna that takes up only that one corner on the upper left.

I can't seem to find a picture of the new dock anywhere.... can someone post a link?

thanks

Also don't like the chrome back. Think they should have done the wifi antenna cover like they did on the iPhone. The corner notch looks odd.

You're right. The place I bought it from swapped it out (i guess to make it cheaper?). thanks for the correction.

I prefer the chrome to the dull dark grey. I see no real difference between the ipod and the iphone icons/dock. Sure, they use different colors, but that seems to be about it.

Of course, you can probably get the ipod touch customized, just like you can do with the iphone, for just a little more money, if you really want something else.

Yeah, but customization is really expensive. I was thinking about doing it until I saw the prices, the turn around time and the thought of it breaking and having to get a new iPhone after just paying to get it painted. Plus the whole warranty thing, if there is one.

I do however like the iPod touch a little bit better, I like the black around the rim instead of the chrome, probably won't scratch up like the iPhone can tend to do.

I personally despise the new UI for the iPod touch. To me, it looks like a cheap Japanese copy of the iPhone. (Same with the actual device...)

i dont like how it looks at all compared to the iphone

the iphones icons are symmetrical and the main bottom 4 buttons look better

the main screen of the ipod is too blank they need to fill it up

My friend who owns an iPhone was talking to me today about it and he said he likes the iPod touches border because the chrome one on the iPhone gets scratched.

What are you talking about, the two are exactly the same. Sure the dock is different on the touch, but other than that they are identical
