So I thought about it, I feel like Apple is going to pull a 3 cycle circa ala X cycle this time around again.

1. New form factor curved design, full screen faceID no touchID.
2017 iPhone X curved
2018 iPhone XS curved, new max size
2019 iPhone 11 (aka XSS) curved, 3 camera lens

2. New form factor boxy design,
2020 iPhone 12 boxy
2021 iPhone 13 (aka 12S) boxy, smaller notch
2022 iPhone 14 (aka 12SS) boxy, punch hole/touchID screen

3. New form factor (fold?)
2024 iPhone 15
2025 iPhone 16 (15S)?
2025 iPhone 16 (15SS)?

Anyone else see the 3 year cycle pattern here? Used to be a 2 year cycle when it was S series (except the XS - 11).

I see the same too. iPhone 13 is so incremental I’m not thrilled at all. Doubled with underwhelming Apple Watch series 7, I think I will pass this year and wait for next year iPhone. Apple can only make so many design changes for a phone and so many improvements over a set form factor. Even SOC this year is almost identical to the last year one, architecture wise, so, there’s really not much to see.

It’s an expected 12S cycle… they may have stopped marketing it as S, but it is.

This is more S than iPhone 6s is imo.
Imagine apple starts to shuffle Color after each generation to mix things up at some point. That would be hilarious.
