...that while watching a video on Apple TV, you could press a button to just see the time played/remaining without pausing/playing/FF/RR it?

Do you get that info when you press pause on the Apple TV?

I do use this sort of feature sometimes when watching DVDs. There is a specific button on my DVD remote to bring up the on screen display (OSD). It only takes one press to bring up the OSD, but another three presses to cycle through the views to get rid of it again. i.e. This is not the best user interface!

I would think that would be a nice feature, but I really don't mind pausing it to see that information.

You see, I was used to burning my XVIDS/DIVX files to DVD and then watching them in my dvd player, which has a time display on the unit. So if I watching something, but wanted to see if I'd be finished at a ceratin time, it was as easy as glancing at my DVD player's display.

Now instead of burning I send it to my Apple TV, and I have no clue where I'm at when I watch a TV show or film I downloaded. Pausing it sucks, it stops the flow of the show.

Question: What if it was not finished at that certain time, wouldn't you be Pausing/Stopping the movie, or would you let it continue to play and leave anyway.

In my opinion having the time pop up on screen as the movie is playing would interrupt the flow of the movie, much like those stupid " Breaking New " banners interrupts the flow of the TV shows in progress.

I agree with you...it would be nice to see it without having to pause the movie.

Funny, I was thinking that just last night whilst watching YouTube...

I personally believe they'd be far off just opening it up for 3rd party app development. It's really pretty simple actually, not like the iPhone/iTouch which are a little more complex...
