Anyone else wonder wtf they were worried about with the keyboard?

Conversely, I've been having a fair amount of difficulty with the keyboard.
I've been using various Treos and Blackberries for a few years, and the adjustment is surprisingly difficult for me.
After watching the keyboard video, I've gone from trying to use two thumbs, to one finger, and it seems to be working better. Maybe I just have huge thumbs from all the typing I've been doing on my other phones.
By the time I went out to a bar to celebrate having the coolest phone on the planet I already had the keyboard down. I haven't been doing much two finger, but it took me maybe 5 minutes to get the hang of it. The one thing I was worried about was not having a tactile feel, but that is no bother, I can;t even notice I am not on a real keyboard. I am super impressed. A+ to Apple in my book.
its becuase the "others" want to use any reason they can, founded or not, to attack the iphone. why ANYONE would choose to have a 1" x "2 screen just so they can have a fixed keyboard that you dont use all the time. over a HUGE screen with touch controls is beyond me.
funny thing is. Apple has now pioneered it. it will get proven as a viable interface with devices.and EVERYBODY will be going to touch screen.

I, as well, have very little trouble. I can type extremely fast on this, just slightly slower than on a laptop keyboard. It just feels kind of weird when you are not touching a button, which makes me sometimes reluctant, but when I just let myself type I rarely make mistakes. I don't think the keyboard should be a problem at all after a week or so (barring you have enormous fingers).
I can't believe how fast I am on the keyboard already. My only issue is that (occassionally) auto-correct tries to change a word that I know is right, but it thinks I meant something else.
I think the biggest thing is that you do need to watch what you are typing more, with the treo/blackberry you can thumb it without looking because of the tactile keyboard layout. However, it isn't like a computer where being able to type without seeing the keyboard makes a difference in your productivity, the words and the keyboard are so close on the phone it does make that more bearable. I actually found that two-thumbing it was easier for me, as long as I remembered that both thumbs couldnt rest on the screen simultaneously.

Yea Ive got used to the keyboard enough where Ive just started to not look at the keyboard as I type. I can focus on looking at what I type and not what letters I type. I figure it won't be long before I get blackberry thumb! That and I need to increase my txt message plan!

I am already pretty fast with the keyboard. Frankly I am surprised how well it works and how little time it took me to get used to it.
I can't believe how fast I am learning it. Some letters are a little off but I am getting used to it after only a few hours.
For what I do I would MUCH RATHER HAVE MORE SCREEN then physical chiclet keys.

The real trick, and most difficult part about the keyboard, is to just "let it go."
You need to just type away without regard for typos. I am AMAZED at how accurate this thing is when you just blaze away and trust it to figure out what you meant. For a full paragraph I typed off the top of my head I only had to go back and make 4 edits... not bad at all really.
You just have to trust it and blaze away, then you'll see how great this keyboard really is.

I am extremely amazed at how fast it took me to get the hang of this keyboard, and I have been practicing typing with it. It increases your productivity with the predictive word sensor that auto-corrects words you misspell (for the most part it does an excellent job) and is quite fun to type on it as well. I started out with my index finger typing on it slowly and began to use two thumbs and began typing a little bit faster as I learned how to use the keyboard. I love the keyboard on the iPhone as it's very easy to use and quite intuitive, and Apple did a great job with it.

Let me tell you, I have never before owned a smart phone; so my experience of typing on tiny keyboards is zero, and obviously the iPhone is more of a handheld computer than a phone.
I have had no problems with the virtual keyboard at all. Within the first 5 minutes, I was able to type as fast as a cheetah runs with both thumbs and almost no mistakes were made. I would say that the OS and me have a 97% accuracy.
The only issue I have found is when I type in a different language, the software wants to fix what I type in Spanish to the closest English word, but that is completely acceptable since I did not expect to have multiple languages with the iPhone.

within about 30 seconds of using the keyboard i was tying incredibly fast on it with very little mistakes.
It is really not to bad. I, however, am used to not typing in perfect english....gotta work on that.
I upgraded to the iPhone from my Razor I got way back in the day. This is my first cell phone that you don't enter using just the 1-9 keys. Personally I've been adjusting rather quickly, the lack of tactile feed back is a none issue for me.
Interestingly enough I'm thinking about Buying an iPhone for my mom. Due to her MS (a medical condition), She has no feeling in her finger tips; So I think she will find its even easier to type useing the iPhone than her current Razor.

oh no, but right now, most people are still so excited, under which condition, normal people will ignore the slight inconvenience, as you can see, most commentators only comment on this keyboard after 2 weeks use.
I love the keyboard.. Don't even notice the whole tactile feel issue that was so widely discussed.. I'm getting pretty good at typing with my thumbs, but I'm still quicker with my finger.. I guess another day or two and I'll be just as fast with my thumbs..
