As well as some others on these forums already have reported I also noticed that after a couple of days of use I had a dark line from lint/dust between the two plastic parts on both AirPods. Not at all what I was expecting but perhaps something I could ignore.

What's way worse for me though is that the metal "ring" at the bottom of the stem is no way near flush against the plastic. Well, it's not visible, but I can easily feel a pretty sharp edge if I move a finger over the stem. When I have the AirPods in my ears, the stems are touching my skin and as I turn my head the edge of the ring gets caught on my stubble. It's not nearly enough to pull them out but can be a bit painful at times and I always get an annoying, scratching sound in my ear from the ring skipping along my stubble. There's also a slight tugging sensation. This might all sound ridiculous but I find it very annoying. It happens very frequently on my right side and occasionally on my left.

I will head back to the Apple Store and let them have a look at them but until I find the time I thought I'd ask: is the plastic flush to the metal ring on your AirPods?

I shave every weekday btw and I guess I get a little bit thicker than the average beard when I don't shave.

One of my Airpods is perfect as there is no dark line between the parts. The other does, tho. As for the metal ring at the bottom, mine is flush or at least I don't find anything unusual and I'm quite picky when it comes to these things

yep. same for me. one of the airpods shows a "darker seam" while the other does not.

metal rings appear to be flush though.
