I’m on a 15 pro max (88% battery capacity) and ever since I updated to 18.1 my phone has been very sluggish. Opening apps, loading emails, surfing the web on safari, even editing photos. It all seems so slow. Am I going crazy here or is anyone else experiencing the same thing?

No problems at all here on my 15 Pro Max. I would even say it feels a bit smoother that on 18.0.1 but definitely not slower.

Did you do a clean reboot? Closing all apps via App-switcher and shut down the iPhone completely? That‘s something I do after every software update to clear caches etc.

May want to try a wipe and clean install of iOS 18.1. Can easily be done plugging your iPhone into any Mac laptop or desktop and intiating "Restore" from the Finder.

Don't use any backup images or iCloud backups. Wipe, clean install, reinstall fresh apps. I've found this always -- always -- solves the "slow" or "sluggish" problem across all Apple devices, including iPhones, iPads, and Macs. What's more, I've had five, six, even seven year-old iPhones and iPads work as if new after doing a wipe and clean install.

iPhone 13 and iPhone 15, both updated to 18.1, no issues here. Is your phone storage full? If your phone storage is full then the memory chips can't shuffle data around for wear leveling.
