Hi

Im going to be moving to los angles from london in a couple of months and im not sure what to do about shipping my stuff...

Ive found a few shipping sites but would you trust them with your new 27" imac?

Im shipping other stuff too but due to the size/price of the mac im worried..

Should i find some kind of sealable pallet to put stuff in?

How are usa customs about that kinda stuff coming in?

any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance..

You can use any carrier such as FedEx, UPS or TNT. Just remember to select shipping with insurance so in case they lose or damage it, they'll cover it.

As it's your own and used, I doubt they can ask customs fees for that. You are moving there, otherwise you would be moneyless when you've paid the customs! :p

My advice in general is to sell things off here and rebuy overseas. Yes, it's more expensive there but it's less of a headache and considering the cost of shipping (at least several hundred dollars) you pretty much break even. Even if you have to swallow a hundred or two, it is worth it in the amount of stress and hassle, not to mention risk.

I'm speaking from experience. I brought a crap load of electronics with me when I moved to Australia for a year and sold everything except my iPod touch for the return trip. Based on this i will NEVER travel loaded again. I slept much better during my return week (and on the plane) than during my departure.

I moved across the US and had my imac shipped b/c of its size. I just kept it in its original packaging and had UPS put it in an even larger box with tons of foam peanuts. Worked out perfect with not damage at all.
