Hi all,

My ipad Pro 10.5” 64GB with iOS 11.0.3 installed just went black screen and not responding to long press of power button nor home button. There was roughly 50% battery left for sure thus auto shutdown due to insufficient battery was not possible. The device just liked dead with a black screen until I hard reboot it by pressing and holding power button and home button simultaneously.

May I know if anyone has encountered this “black screen of death” on iPad Pro as well. I purchased it last week and have never expected any issue. If this is a hardware issue, I am going to request a replacement within the period of 14days (a week left).

Yes, mine does this quite often. I hold the power and home buttons together for about 15 seconds and it seems to come back to life.

Only with todays screenshot attempt of start trek discovery from netflix (dolby vision)
Why ipad has captured a black screenshot is beyond me.
Unless it’s maybe netflix copy right or similar.
Though no intermittent black screens from i pad pro -thankfully,

No black screen while using, i.e. a crash, on my 12.9” 2017 iPad Pro. But it does have the “no wake from sleep” issue when opening the Smart Cover. Not had that issue tho since turning Auto Brightness off. Oh, and I am on IOS 11.0.3.

thats the copyright protection. if you try to take screenshots during movies rented from iTunes you'll have the same issue

Might be an 11.0.3 issue. Ran into similar today with my iPhone 8 on that version. Was unresponsive to hard restart. Since I was near an Apple Store, stopped in there to have them have a look, under assumption something wrong with the display (the taptic engine was still working in that felt the feedback from that when button "pressed").

Device was dead to even Apple's diagnostics software. Took a second Genius to finally get it to do a hard restart and get diagnostics running. The Genius went on about seeing in phone's crash logs Springboard crashed and should have come back on its own.

Could be a coincidence, however, since installing this latest update I've had to close down and restart my iPad Pro 10.5 twice after freezing.

I have contacted Apple Support, and the specialist ran a remote diagnosis for my device. All tests were passed without any single issues. I just wonder if this is a concidence or a bug of iOS 11.0.3...

My 12.9 2nd generation has also been unresponsive, glitchy. A restart has improved it but I am counting the days until the 11.1 update to fix the stuttering/instability issues with iOS 11.
