Ever since I updated to 2.0 Firmware this morning, I've noticed a definite choppiness in scrolling with applications and with texting, email, etc.

Has anyone else experienced this?

In a word - Yes.

TBH - I'm a little disappointed.

I applied the leaked 2.0 software yesterday and about half an hour ago I applied the official 2.0 update hoping that might cure it, (some suggestions on MR were that yesterday's was for iPhone 3G, not the 1st generation one).

It is still choppy though. Some examples of this I am seeing are

- When you go into the contacts app you can't immediately type in the search bar or scroll through the contacts list.

- When you are typing a text message, the 'clicks' when you press a key aren't immediate and then they catch-up.

Saying that, there are benefits - push email, calendar etc. and the Remote app.

Would be interested to see if anybody else is seeing this and if anyone who didn't apply yesterday's 2.0 update isn't seeing it.

Cheers

- D

Yep, it's definitely odd.

I do like the benefits but I miss the near flawless software I had before. Now, it almost seems like the older iPhones can't handle the update.

Maybe it can be fixed?

I was thinking it maybe that but then again, I think the innards are generally the same, with the exception of the 3G and GPS chips, (which on those post-mortem screenshots is combined (may be wrong!)?

If more people are seeing it then it may be a wait for 2.01 ;)

I've been having the text lag issue long before the the 2.0 firmware release and the when i updated it seemed to help more than anything. I had been having many toss my iPhone out the window issues and now that i removed all my web apps and updated everything seems to be back to the iPhone i came to love.

i've been having sluggish response in contacts.app as well. occasionally in other apps too. not enough to make me hate it, but enough that i can't help but notice it. hopefully we'll see an update soon that will take care of this.

I don't have the scrolling problem, but the auto correct when typing words takes a little longer than normal to show the correct work. So sometimes when you push space bar it will just correct the word without notifying you...

I know this topic is about 2.0 on the original iPhone, but I'm experiencing all of the above on my iPhone 3G.

Fingers crossed Apple release a new version soon :)

I must have a lucky phone, because my phone hasn't lagged, and all the Apps have worked properly when i want to use them. (No crashing)

Although, i do have a hopefully stuck (not dead) pixel on my iPhone. Luckily i can only see it in a black screen.

I'm currently waiting for a replacement to come into stock, as I have more than 10 stuck pixels :(

They did let me keep this one to play with whilst I wait though :)

You all realize that you've installed a new OS on your iPhones (or purchased a 3G with the new OS). Think of it as the equivalent of installing Leopard 10.5.0 the day it came out. There are bound to be some issues and Apple will release an update soon to resolve those issues. Overall, the 2.0 firmware doesn't have too many issues and the Apps store is great.

I have those exact same symptoms (slow contacts, some lag while typing) but with the iPhone 3G.

I never had the original iPhone so I have nothing to compare it to, but if I as a new customer notice that it's slow then there obviously is a problem. Apple will probably fix this soon as well as some of the other issues like apps sometimes having to be deleted and re-synced and the rare but glaring crashes.
