Anyone figured out the 'Unsupported video format' problem?

I've had a look around but didnt really find anything conclusive. The problem is that 50% of the time I get an 'unsupported video format' message and cannot access any stuff in my iTunes library on my ATV. Even if I start a movie pause it and go back to the main menu then go back to play the movie again the message sometimes pops up.

The general consensus is that its a network problem, possibly interference, but from what ive read nothing is proving conclusive. I was just wondering if anyone else can shed any light on the problem?

Apparently it only happens with people using HDMI and is non existent when using composite connection.

Because of this the sync functionality is useless because to get the ATV to read the files again is to reconnect to the iTunes library which erases any synced content.

I dont have an AEBs just a crappy netgear router so I dont have much control over frequencies etc.

Its not HDMI only as I've gotten this error a couple times on my videos and I use Component.

I don't know why it happens and it seems to happen randomly day to day and hit or miss on which videos it affects.

I get it as well if I add a new video to my library and don't re-sync the TV.

Wierd thing is it doesn't happen all the time, just sometimes. As long as I reconnect to the library it will always play the new file after that. Gotta be a bug.

Yeh, like I said you can be watching a movie. Pause it half way through and go back to the main menu or something then on returning to the movie seconds later it refuses to play somehow becoming an unrecognisable format in the space of a few seconds.

Maybe Apple should look at expanding and marketing this miracle transcoding technology, lets hope they give us a choice of what it transcodes into though.

On a serious note I've sent feedback to Apple about it because having to resync your ATV everytime makes syncing pretty much useless. I think they know about it and possibly tried to fix it in 2.0.1 but instead made it much worse (for me anyway).

I have only had this problem with 2.0.1, so far, I have set my aebs to use channel 161 and it has been ok.

I think this is a bug as well. My wife uses the TV the most and loves it because the kids can see the album art. She got this error message yesterday but didn't do anything about until I got home (good wife ). All I did was hit menu to go back then back in the movie and it was fine.

Mine is connected via wireless G to a re-flashed Linksys GS router for reference.

I hate not having my AEBS. Mine suddenly died recently.

I've had the same problem. And come to think of it, my Apple TV has never functioned correctly.. It's been replaced twice and it still has trouble syncing/streaming and connecting to more than 1 computer on my network.
