This would be a nice replacement for the lack of support for editing these kinds of documents. All my mail goes to Gmail, so I could easily edit attachments via the Google online apps. Unfortunately, my iPhone can't handle the complexity of the website and always crashes after just a few clicks.

afaik, google docs and spreadsheets doesnt even support safari on the regular desktop version of safari......i hae heard that it is definitely coming soon

And also, i personally think that its a matter o of tine before we see built in google docs and spreadsheets support right on the homescreen as built in apps

Google has been on the recrd saying that more google apps are definitely coming

I will just sit here ptiently and wait :)

Yeah, that makes sense. If it was built into the phone, what would they do about the data storage? Would it be all online through Gmail? Or would we be able to have drag and drop support to your computer via Finder?

My guess would be that this would come with the rumored file browser that has been mentioned elsewhere........but also, Google Gears seems like it would help in this area too......only time will tell
