I've got the static issue that effected early versions and it just started recently, so unfortunately I missed the extended replacement program they had in place. They've gotten to the point where they're basically unusable. Apple Support chat said I'd have to go to the store and have them checked out. I'm pretty sure my chances of them taking pity on me and replacing them are slim to none. Anyone know what the costs/options are? Curious before I make an appointment and drive down there. I wonder if I'm better off just getting the new AirPod Pros 2 for $189on sale at multiple places currently? Other than the static they still work great and the battery life is still good for my typical usage.

Have you tried using them with noise cancellation or transparency mode turned off? That helped me get a few more months out of mine for casual use like watching TV at home.

However, mine are now buzzing whenever mid to low frequencies are played so they need to be recycled and I'm in the same boat --thinking I could take them to the Apple Store and hope for a miracle replacement--but it seems futile and I'm fine without them, using my Beats Fit Pro I got for the gym, and thinking that the bad feelings around this experience will have likely resolved by the time generation 3 is available.

Yeah I tried that. It worked ok, but I really needed the noise cancellation. I tried Apple with no luck. I picked up a pair on Amazon on sale for $189 and sold the old ones for $40 to someone locally whose dog at their right AirPod, and only my left one was affected.
