Other Anyone going camping early tomorrow morning for an iPhone Xs MAX?

Just curious what people are planning to do if they didn't pre-order. I'm still on the waiting bandwagon as I still have a 7+. Still in pristine condition, snappy fast, and will go in for a battery replacement before the $29 fee is up.

Im normally on the 2yr upgrade cycle and considering waiting one more year. I have a feeling the next iPhones will adopt USB-C. Just my two cents. Hope you all enjoy your new iPhone Xs/MAX tomorrow.

i dont think camping is even necessary. I work down the street on the same street as a apple store, and this is the only year of the past 5 years that i have seen no lines. It is literally a ghost town. Im assuming people are just waiting for the iphone xr
 
I am tempted to camp...but not motivated enough. Hopefully can walk in and grab a Max 256GB.
 
on apples website you can reserve one and then just go in and pick it up. Not pre-order. This is different. They will release reservation slots at different times for different stores. And if you miss it one day you can do it the next. I've done this a couple of times.
Reserved one via the site and then went in and picked it up at that time. No camping needed.
 
I've camped almost every year and enjoy the whole process of it. This year, I got a perfect pre-order with pick up at my local store at 8:30am, so that's what I'm doing this time.

I'll still swing by the line at the local store tonight, though, and hang with the folks for a while.

Is it a tradition for you, to camp out?? Why not just preorder at 12:01PST?

Usually you'd see the hype start a week out with people queued up... tbh, this release doesn't feel special, only reason I'm moving from the X to Xs Max (gosh, that's a mouthful to say!!) is due to being in the IUP.


Edit: ok. I stand corrected, there are lines forming in Australia!

I used to camp out every year for at least 2-3 days at a time. Since the 7, I’ve been ordering online for instore pickup. Did the same this year, but I do miss camping out. It was simply fun.
 
Fun to camp in line? I can't imagine what the campers smell like after a day or two. The BO much be really rockin'.

I'm assuming that will happen when Apple B&M stores opening time on Friday and assuming they turn that function on at that precise moment? :p

EDIT: Thanks for the heads up. That's something to think about. Apart from the 4, 5, and 6+ I camped out for, I didn't get the 7+ until two months after release. I'll keep that in mind if I plan to get it in the next week or so.

They sometimes start it a day early. They only sell so many a day and then they stop so they have more for the next day and so on. So if they sell out one day you simply try again the next. Not many people seem to know of this so it was pretty easy to login in the morning, reserve it for when it was convenient for me to go in and then not have to rush.
Of course now I just preorder online so I don't have to go anywhere and avoid traffic.

Nice. So it's basically one of those order online and pick up at store kind of deal? Guess I'll just have to refresh here and there until it goes live. On a side note, I actually had a pre-order ready to buy outright the night pre-orders went live. I was debating on whether to drop $1.3K+ on a phone that night haha.

sort of. But you haven't paid yet. I did it with the iphone upgrade program but I set it all up at the store. Basically it's just a replacement for standing in line waiting for your turn. It allows them to control the lines.

They had a apple guy in the mall and you talk to him at your appointed time. He clicks on his ipad and another employee comes out with the phones and takes you to a clear area in the store with phones in hand and processes everything via their phone.

Sorry, I was just kidding around. I honestly didn’t thinking camping out was much of a thing with all the online preorders these days.

but to the OP, no sir. I did the line thing for several years but tomorrow I am hoping that FedEx gentleman gets to my house and little extra earlier than he normally does. Maybe while I still have a warm cup of coffee in hand.

Ya'll who are getting new phones and watches.....Enjoy.
 
Nah I’m good. I’m going to head to the Verizon store early to see if I can nab a series 4 Apple Watch, and a case for my XS Max.
 
I was on my morning bike ride and they had free really good coffee so I stopped.

Yeah no need to do that. I returned the one that I got in the mail. Which was the space grey color. And went to my local Best Buy which is closer to me than the Apple store. It was dead in there. I had my pick of color and size etc. Left with a gold Max 256. I’m not sure if this launch is as popular in some places as others in the past. Might be the price scaring ppl away.
