Does anyone have a breakdown comparison on which features are working on PB1 vs DP4 and vice versa?

As I understand it, the only difference is the inclusion of Feedback Assistant.

Edit: Apparently not true.

It seems odd to me that they would bump the build number to exclude an external app. That said, the build for PB1 is only one number higher than the DP4 build, so there isn't much difference.

From my own personal experience. Theres an iMessage bug on PB1 that does not let you send SMS messages. But you can receive no problem. On DP4 its a non-issue.

Instant hotspot and iphone cellular calls also do not work for me under PB1. Under DP4 they worked about 70% of the time.

Just came on here to check if anyone else had same iMessage problem with SMS. It was fine with DP4 but not working on PB1. Also Handoff seems to be Hit and Miss with PB1.

Under DP4, I can't send SMS messages anymore.

Ah. Someone else said it in another thread and I assumed that it was correct!

Could be wrong but I believe the beta doesn't have Apple engineer feedback in Feedback Assistant.

So it's a 'crippled' one way feedback. I guess it's feed with no back.:D

Interesting, because the release notes for Yosemite DP4 say it’s a known issue. Of course, the "out" here is the phrase "may not" in the release notes.

SMS Known Issue
- On OS X Yosemite Developer Preview 4, you can receive SMS messages sent to your iPhone running iOS 8 beta, but you may not be able to send SMS messages.

Thanks for that. I probably should have read the release notes on this one. I guess i was lucky the first time. I wonder if i should reinstall just to see if it starts working again. I love being able to text everyone from my macbook.

Is handoff working for you in DP4? And is there anyone else having problems sending SMS via iMessage on DP4?

Thanks,

I'm having this issue in DP4 when it worked very very well in DP3. I updated my testing machine and iPhone at the same time so I'm not sure if newer iOS broke it or OS X.

----------

Incorrect. Both releases have "Feedback Assistant."

I don't have Feedback Assistant on any of my Yosemite machines.
All are clean installs and I just use my usual way of submitting bugs before Feedback Assistant was introduced.

On successive builds the build number would be increased by one, no matter what the change was.

But I think the only differences between the beta and DP might be the MAS update catalog, and Feedback Assistant config.
