How do you justify having the Mac Mini when the MBP can do everything the Mini can do?

Curious as the new minis are tempting lol

Yes.

I have a 2018 Mini and a 2021 MacBook Pro 14" (m1pro).

There's nothing that beats having a decent desktop for "desktop things", AND a good laptop for "laptop things"...

Do you ever wish you had an Air?

What stuff do you do on desktop vs laptop?

Mac Mini in my basement, basically it just has a high-capacity USB hard drive attached to it and it serves as a backup target for my MacBook Pro...

I will in a week. Upgrading a long out of support iMac for a new mini + nice monitor. Will be used for general use, coding, and photo editing. Will have a set of external drives on it (I'm eyeing a TERRAMASTER D8 Hybrid... allows 4x24TB SATA drives, and 4x 8TB NVME drives. You can get this AND a couple drives for less than a 2TB expansion from Apple, and you can bring it with you next time you update). Also I'll likely share the monitor w/ my work Dell box.

Yes, I could just keep plugging my laptop into the display and storage box when I need them. No, I don't want to.
