So this weekend I'm in Tokyo, staying in one of the beautiful five star hotels located in the heart of the city, I'm living it large with all the room service and all, courtesy of my new client. Woot! :)

Anyway, yesterday afternoon I got my grubby little hands on one of those Sony X1000 Series an 32Gb black.. IMO this is what the iPod should of been, cause it's just cooking!! Though originally I wanted the limited edition but they're not offering a rebate. So now i'm the proud owner of a black Sony MW-X1060 and claimed a 13% rebate via points too!

It's gotta be said the OLED display is gorgeous!! Blacks are really black and all the colours are really vibrant!

Instead of using the supplied cans, I'm using my UM3x's with this walkman and the sound, well you gotta hear it to believe it cause it's awesome!! Even with all the EQ's switched off!! The only problem is understanding some of the kanji as the Japanese version doesn't have alternative language support (unlike the international model) but I do get a few more codecs.

As part of the deal, I get the following accessories free!!
Leather case, 360° Privacy filter and some body protection film.

Sonic Stage is the worst app Sony ever created.
Luckily this kind of Walkman has drag and drop features so there's no need to use that ****** app.
Based on Gizmodo's review, the built-in web browser is a joke.
The sound quality on the other hand, is a big plus so it's not so bad.

Looks cool. One of my friends overseas has one of these and he is constantly going on about how much better the sound is compared to his iPod - so much so that he never uses his iPod Touch for listening to music any more.

I have only ever owned iPods so don't really know any better but how is the sound better and if it is appreciably better, why don't Apple figure out a way of making the sound better on iPods? Is it because people are like me and don't know any different?

Sounds about right to me. Haven't seen too many complaints about quality at all, and the iPods are selling like candy already, what's the need to up the quality?

I'm happy with the sound from my iPhone and I was equally with my iPod, maybe if I got something else I could tell the difference, but for now I'm good.

Yeah sonicstage is nowt but a pile of crap and despite what some of the reviewers says this thing is pure drag'n'drop, works with music, videos and photos. So for those who are worried about the crappy software, don't be... unless you wanna utilies Sony's own lossless compression then you'd use it's software with about 31.4GB of storage I don't worry about the space, instead I just drag and drop all my media and I can share them with friends without messing about with software!!

And the best thing is, I don't have to list to a sub-standard sound quality... I don't get iPod owners, who'll then go out and buy expensive cans. High quality cans only does one thing, it'll amplify bad sounds and make them worst! If your gonna invest in quality cans then at least get a good source too! The iPod ain't perfect, I mean it's stylish but it has it's issues and for me I think the most annoying thing on the iPods is it's poor sound quality, lack of user adjustable EQ's, poor battery life (sony offers 33 hrs for music) and the dreaded auto-rotate feature, you can't disable it!!

Well... I brought this walkman purely for the music, doesn't matter it's got a crappy browser, it's all about the sound and the new amplifier is great however there's a slight clicky sound when nothing is playing, doesn't appear to affect the sound when it's playing!!

The hold switch is kinda cool.. Unlike the iPod Touch, on the Sony you can select how it operates it'll allow you to disable the touch feature when it's engaged but it's top button will still operate.

Umm.. I dunno why I should have a web browser on a audio player, I really don't. Firstly it needs a wifi connection to operate and they ain't that many places with free hotspots plus I get faster speeds with my docomo phone and it has an accurate GPS... When I'm watching 1Seg digital TV, the picture is awesome!! I dunno why Sony doesn't put a OLED in it's flagship VAIO!!
