I'm curious to know if anyone has both an iPad Air and smaller iPad Pro and a 12.9 inch iPad pro. Do you find them redundant?

I have both the 11" ipad pro & 12.9 pro and i do use both of them..
(But i do use the 12.9 the most but that is also partly down to having the magic keyboard for it)

My 12.9 has the magic keyboard where my 11 pro is just in a slim lightweight case

Redundant? Not at all. Maybe in a given week, they might not get equal use. Throughout the year though, usage balances out.

Besides, each iPad still gets used at least 15x longer than the MacBook.

The 12.9 stays docked in the Magic Keyboard most of the time, as a secondary laptop, while the 11 is for portability.

I have a 12.9", 11" and mini 6 and use them all. The 12.9 stays mainly in my office and is used as a media consumption , watching TV as I work. The 11" I usual take to bed a watch YouTube etc and the mini, which I've always loved, is trying to fit in. I love the form factor and use on the sofa etc. A bit overkill I know but there you have it.

Same here

90% of the time my 12.9 (has magic keyboard) stays at home and i take the 11" pro when i go out the house
This is also mainly because my 11" is in a Zugu case which protects it very well from getting damage

I have both the iPad Air 4th Generation (256GB) and the iPad Pro 5th Generation (256GB) however these are not used for intensive application purposes and simply used for apps / couple of games / online movie streaming. It's overkill but love comparing the older with the new in performance / features / functionality. I like the size of the iPad Air 4th Generation but it does not support 5G mobile connectivity (like the iPad Pro 5th Generation), only 4G so when using outside of the house you realise the speed disadvantage, plus the iPad Air still uses and LCD display which does not support ProMotion either. As with most thing when you go to a larger device it's challenging to go backwards.

I was primarily using the 2018 12.9” iPad Pro with magic keyboard until my wife told me she doesn’t use her 2018 11” iPad Pro as much, so I decided to use both, taking turns between each device with different tasks (Web browsing, drawing on procreate, video watching, photo editing).

I have to say now that I think the 11” is the best balanced iPad Pro. You can do everything and it doesn’t feel like you’re stretched too thin. However, there were times I did feel I needed more screen size for tasks like drawing or having the nice full on-screen keyboard that only the 12.9” could provide. The problem with the 12.9” is really the size and weight. It’s a device you have to set down if you plan on using it for a while versus the 11” iPad which I felt was something I could pick up and use whenever I needed to.

I have an 11 inch M1 iPad Pro 256gb and a 12.9 2020 iPad Pro 1tb and I use them both All the time. 12.9 is for productivity and work stuff daily at the desk. The 11 inch is for consumption and gaming on the couch or in bed and for on the go needs (5G model). Both are cellular versions but only one has service (11 in.). 12.9 occasionally leaves the house when I want a change of scenery for productivity inspiration. But I tether to my iPhone. Still considering adding a data plan to this as well but its rarely out and about so no need at this time.

Why not sign up for the T-Mobile $10/5GB/150 Days Pay-As-You-Go data pass on the 12.9? At $20-30 a year, it's cheap enough to keep for those "just in case" moments.

I upgraded from the iPad Air to the 12.9 iPad Pro, because the screen is too damn small.

I have never used the iPad Air ever since.

Only ever had the 12.9" iPad Pro since they were first available - I'd struggle with a smaller one for most things now.
I am contemplating a smaller Air or 11" iPP as an accompaniment though for Corporate emails and using for Video Conferencing as I prefer to keep work and my own stuff seperate.
