I just came across this. It says it allows your Internet connection to keep running when your phone goes to "sleep" (lock screen). That would come in handy for DLing larger files instead of turning the lockscreen off and having the screen be on the entire duration of a large app download (I got that "9 Innings" baseball game which was a huge DL, took forever because I wasn't getting a good signal strength, ate my battery alive having the screen on the entire time). I'm just wondering if anyone uses/has used this and if so, how is it? Is it stable (3GS with 3.0 FW)? And can you "toggle" it on/off? I only want my Internet to run in lock mode when Im DLing stuff, not all the time.

Yeah Insomnia would work perfectly for what you want.

I use it now and then, it is handy and works just fine on my 3GS on 3.0. I basically just use it for when I want to keep an SSH connection to my phone alive with the screen off or listening to Pandora with the screen off. To turn it on or off just click on the apps icon and then toggle it on/off, or if you use SBSettings there is a toggle you can install there as well.

use backgrounder

I do, it the first thing I installed the day I jailbroke. However, backrounder doesn't keep an Internet connection open when the phone goes into the lockscreen, only when you go back to the honescreen (or wherever), but the screen still gas to be on for the connection to be open.

And thanks for the replies everyone, I'm definately gonna check it out now that I know there is a toggle for it so I can only use it when I need to. Is the SBSerring included or do I need to DL it seperately?

insomnia works great for me. you can always just turn it off when you don't want it to be downloading.

The SBSetting toggle for Insomnia needs to be downloaded separately.
