Running 14.5 and when I disable iCloud for messages on my MacBook and try to get it to sync my 25GB data nothing much happens. It'll download a few messages and sometimes the ones with longest message histories ends only after a coupe of years. Whilst downloading / synching , if I click a message on my MacBook the whole thread disappears. I have also signed out and back in on my MacBook. Funnily enough text messages from 2009 still show but not the ones containing the most messages, and once when they did sync it would only go as far back as two or three years history wise. thanks.

Not sure this is the same issue, but I have an iPhone 14 Pro, iPad 9, and iMac M3 all running up-to-date OS. Frequently but not always the iMac won't display a new iMessage -- often for several minutes after it hits my other devices. It usually arrives eventually but it can be a long wait. Happens for iMessages (blue) and SMS (green) equally. I've reset iMessage on the iMac with no change. I will note that I only keep messages 30 days, and there really aren't that many of them. Weird!
