There is a reason why the developer removed the link for Mac.

I read several reports of failures using Semi-restore requiring restores.

Have you tried ILEX-Rat ? I see more positive reports about it vs Semi-Restore, many from threads here in this forum.

I downloaded the Mac version and did a restore worked fine. no issues so far...

can you point me to the link? i can only find the cydia version.

plus, i don't think it does what i want. i want my ipad2 to appear new, with all app store apps as well as cydia cydia removed...

Ilexrat does that. And both semi restore and ilexrat don't remove cydia/the jailbreak

The only way to remove a jailbreak is to restore
 
i used ilexrat. it removed cydia tweaks, but not app store apps or the current user profile. semi-restore did.

Hummm... I have used iLEX RAT (Terminal #12 method) on two different devices, it removed everything but the core Apple apps and Cydia. It also stripped all the user profiles, Apple ID's etc out.
