Does anyone have a copy of the carrier file that came with the iPhone 3G 3.0 software that was released today.

I installed the 5.0 carrier update file, but I'd like to go back to the original without restoring. Any help!?!

Thanks!

And you need this terminal command to allow iTunes 8.2 to see the .ipcc file, just close iTunes, open terminal, paste the command, and reopen.

defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE

Cool, thanks. I just found out my voicemail notifications aren't working, and I wanted to go back to the 4.0 file also.

I hardly post here. In fact, I think the last time was when I got my iPhone 3G, but I read here a lot. You guys are awesome.

I set up using the 5.0 carrier file and tried to convert back since visual voicemail wasn't working. Downloaded that text file, changed extension to ipcc, pressed shift and click update on itunes and selected the file then rebooted iPhone. When the iPhone restarted, I am still stuck on the setup voicemail screen at saving the password. Dialing one still gives me the "error performing request: unknown error" error.

Does anyone have any ideas short of restoring the iPhone or calling AT&T?

just FYI....we all have the 4.0 carrier file. check your itunes folder on c drive for windows and library-itunes for MACs

So I restored to the 4.0 IPCC twice and the camera icon is still there and I cant send a text to more than one person. Sweet.

EDIT: Question. If I restore from backup, will the carrier file replace itself to 5.0?

The phone even says im on 4.0 Looks like I cant replace it...yay for restoring. Seems like a common problem. The number goes down by 1, but the features stay.

After you reload the 4.0 file, restart. Then go to Internet Tethering and try to turn it on. When I did this, it disappeared, along with the camera icon.
I changed back without restoring with absolutely no problem at all.

Didnt work for me. Im restoring now.

EDIT: Restored, then from backup. Camera icon came back so I have to setup as new phone which = loss of game savedata. YES!

i noticed i couldn't get into vvm today either using the latest ipcc from http://www.krillr.com/blog/3DPQHBZ3/i-have-tethering-and-mms-on-my-iphone-and-yes-im-on-att

if you dig into the ipcc you'll see that he changed the type-mask values, but looking at the original att ipcc there are no type-mask values. not wanting to play around too much, i went in and just removed the type-mask from the vvm apn and viola, upon inserting the carrier file to the phone, it popped up asking for my voicemail password. i guess he has the wrong value for vvm.

Cant get it to work. My phone says it has ATT4.0 now, but it still has internet tethering and MMS. And i can still use internet tethering. Really dont want to have to restore my phone just so i can send out mass TXT messages.

If you want your voicemails to work with the 5.0 file you need to put in the following setting under: Settings -> General -> Network -> Cellular Data Network

Navigate down to the Visual Voicemail section and input the following (or leave blank)
APN: acds.voicemail
Username: [leave blank]
Password: [leave blank]

After changing those settings you should start to receive voicemail's within 1-15 mins. If not, restart your phone and go back in that menu and check the settings again.

There was also a question of sending mass texts even though the carrier file was setup. What you could do is go to the following so you could send mass texts w/o it using MMS:

Settings -> Messages

Then navigate down to the option that says MMS Messaging and turn it off. After doing that, mass text messages will be sent via regular texts instead of MMS messages. This will also remove the camera icon in the text messaging section.

Best of luck.
