So throughout the day today I've been noticing that 3G does not stay on. In fact, the only way I can get it to connect is by going into settings, turning "enable 3g" off, then turning it back on...it will then stay in 3G for a little while, but as soon as it goes to sleep or runs into a bad patch of signal, it reverts immediately back to EDGE.

Anyone else having this issue? Or any solutions to keep the damn thing in 3G so I can actually browse on safari without going into settings EVERY time

Sounds a lot like the problems it has always had with mail. Mine is set to check every 15 minutes and there have been times that I'll manually go into mail and it will not have checked for email for as much as 16 hours.

I have the same problem. Except i cant get 3G up at all even tho i keep switching it on and off trying to get it. Whats the point in having a 3G iPhone when the 3G doesn't even work for me [I'm in the middle of the city with 3G coverage]

mail? What??? I'm talking about 3g service on the new iPhone. Nice try though.

You apparently didn't get what he was saying... He was pointing out that another setting on the iPhone has a similar issue. That similar issue being even though a particular stetting is selected it isn't behaving properly, thus implying that it is perhaps an overall issue with "settings" functionality on the iPhone and not a specific 3G connection issue.

On a separate note, my phone has no issues whatsoever picking up 3G when its available. Do keep in mind that AT&T's 3G network to date is spotty at best and that when you are on the edge of a 3G coverage "hole" it might go back to EDGE because it has a stronger signal there.
